It is not often that a shoe sums up the mood of a season, but if there were one such shoe for spring/ summer 2009 this Diego Dolcini sandal would be it. Utilising this year’s hot colour combination, tangerine and cerise pink, with thick satin straps and a sturdier stiletto heel it just screams SS09.
Taking his inspiration from theatre, cinema and architecture Italian Dolcini believes in creating ‘shoe sculptures’ and objects of desire as opposed to just common old footwear. Holding degrees in both architecture and fashion design he has worked with Bruno Magli and designed accessories for the 1999 catwalk shows of Emilio Pucci and Bulgari, since 2004 he has been collaborating with Dolce & Gabanna. Previously found only in a network of exclusive boutiques and having graced the feet of Madonna, Mariah Carey, Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, Salma Hayek, Jennifer Lopez, and Monica Bellucci, selected styles are now available to you and me on Yoox.com.
