I am not a huge fan of Dakota Fanning, mainly because she is fifteen and I am, well, not anymore, ok entirely because she is fifteen. In any case that is neither here nor there because I am loving the seventies look she is rocking in the latest pictures from the set of The Runaways. Fanning stars as Cherie Currie lead singer of The Runaways in a coming of age biopic of the aforementioned band. The eighties might be all the rage now, but I can’t get enough of her platinum hair, platform boots, jeans, waistcoat and blouse combo.

The Boots –
Unfortunately this type of platform has not been part of the mainstream fashion consciousness since the Spice Girls were cool, but it has never gone out of style in the fetish community , who, incidentally, have a surprising number of websites dedicated to shoes. For platforms like Dakota’s check out the boot section of Banana Shoes or Xtreme Footwear. Many styles come in leather in addition to the, less palatable, PVC.
The Blouse -
While the boots over jeans look could easily pass on any street today it is the patterned blouse with its tight cuffs and bishop sleeves that is quintessentially seventies. With a bit of luck you should be able to find one similar to Dakota’s on eBay, at your local charity shop or even the back of your mother’s wardrobe. Failing that, if you are good with a needle and thread, you could make your own like one of the handy ladies at Sew Retro.
The Waistcoat –
When it comes to the waistcoat we actually found one very similar to Dakota's at Bon Prix for just £12.90. It actually comes in a variety of colours so you can change the look a bit if you like.
