A Year in Make-Up

What would you look like if you applied 365 layers of make-up in one day?

We have all heard the oft repeated estimate that women consume between 4 and 6 pounds of lipstick in a lifetime, but have you ever wondered just how much make-up you apply in one year? Dutch filmmakers Lernert and Sander did and put it to the test in their latest short, Natural Beauty in which 365 layers of make-up are applied to the face of Belgian model, Hannelore Knuts.

 During the nine hour shoot make-up artist Ferry van der Nat and his assistant Vanessa Chan applied seven bottles of foundation; two bottles of eye shadow; three lipstick pens; and two bottles of blusher, in total 228.40ml of makeup. All make-up was from Ellis Faas and the resulting dripping, melted effect is actually quite disturbing.
