Ok first of all I have to say I promised myself that I would not become one of those people who manages to spin a whole article out of a 140 words or less Tweet, yet here I am. In my defence I couldn’t help, but be surprised at this tweet from Dita Von Teese yesterday, “blonde roots are showing. Big day at the drugstore to pick up a box of blue/black! Hope the Hollywood goths didn't beat me to it. Hate salons!”

Who knew that Hollywood’s number one glamour girl dyed her own hair? That said it is a pleasant surprise that Miss Von Teese isn’t immune to a little bit of DIY styling, which gives hope for the rest of us that with a little bit of practice we could all look as glamorous. I must admit, also, that I share her sentiments on salons the majority of which seem to operate with a collective mind churning out scores of identikit hairstyles in the latest en vogue style. Perhaps in that light it is no surprise that Dita’s retro look is done at home.
