Stitch and Style

Published : May 29th, 2009

For the last couple of decades we have been very much a throwaway society, they rack ‘em and stack ‘em in the high street and we use and refuse them at home. At least that was the attitude, with the advent of the global recession people are beginning to change their opinion and we are seeing a revival of austerity and the concept of make do and mend.

However, how many people actually know how to make do and mend? This is where an event like Stitch and Style comes in. In conjunction with Belfast City Council as part of Waste Week on Wednesday 3rd June the Black Box will host live craft and sewing demonstrations by local sewing experts, between 7pm and 9pm, recycled fashion shows at 9pm and a recycled clothes fair from 6.30 through to 10pm.

So, if you want to get hands on advice on how to customise and revive your wardrobe get yourself down to the Black Box on 3rd June, and the best part is it is all free.
