When it comes to fashion Gossip Girl is the noughties answer to Sex and the City. Stylist, and former assistant to Sex and the City maverick Patricia Field, Eric Daman creates looks that are both outrageous and enviable. The girls often look just as stylish off screen as on screen, in particular stars Blake Lively (Serena Van Der Woodsen) and Leighton Meister (Blair Waldorf) frequently make the what to wear lists on blogs and in magazines. It comes as somewhat of a surprise, although not an unwelcome one, then that Us Weekly chose not Lively or Meister, but supporting actress Jessica Szohr as one of New York's 25 most stylish. Szohr, who plays Dan Humphrey's childhood sweetheart on the show, finds herself in the company of the likes of former Elle editor and current Marie Claire fashion director, Nina Garcia, and Tommy Hilfiger. She has quite an eclectic style too, her red carpet look varying drastically from jeans and T-Shirts to sexy fitted dresses and thigh skimming tunics. Indeed the secret to her success may well be that she is not over-styled, but the actress herself thinks it lies closer to her roots. “Everything that my mom has given me, people will stop me on the street and ask, ‘Where is that from?’ and I’m like, ‘Actually, my mom sent it from Wisconsin.”
