Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress Goes on Display at Buckingham Palace
Exhibition Part of the Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace

It was the wedding of the year and everyone is still talking about it, but for the fashion conscious the focus remains on the Duchess of Cambridge’s magnificent Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress. Just yesterday, 7th August, UK high street store Peacocks released their first ever wedding dress, inspired by that of the former Miss Middleton, online and it was a sell out in less than 24 hours. In Ireland, Dresses.ie have produced their own replica, the Katie dress, which sold out on Ireland AM, although there are now a few available online.
If a replica just won’t cut it, though, you can now go and see the real thing at ‘The Royal Wedding Dress: A Story of Great British Design’ exhibition at Buckingham Palace which runs until the 3rd of October. Also on display are the Duchess’ shoes, veil, earrings and the Cartier tiara loaned to her by the Queen, in addition to replicas of her bouquet and wedding cake.
The iconic dress, which famously required needle workers to wash their hands every thirty minutes to keep the lace clean, has not been placed behind glass in order that visitors may fully appreciate its beauty and over half a million are expected to visit during the course of the exhibition.
Tickets cost £17.50 and can be purchased online from The Royal Collection website. For further information and photographs go to The Royal Wedding Dress website or click here to see Queen Elizabeth and the Duchess of Cambridge visiting the exhibition.
